The African Development Bank (AfDB) has said it sees mounting pressure on fiscal spending as

Malawi heads towards the 2019 elections.

In its Africa Economic Outlook for 2018 released recently, the AfDB said the increased fiscal

spending would come about as the current administration strengthens efforts to win re-election.

Malawi will go to the polls in May 2019 to elect a new leader to propel the economy to prosperity

up to May 2024.
