Gap between countries best and worst in trade logistics still large - SpyGhana.com: "The gap between countries that perform best and worst in trade logistics is still quite large, despite a slow convergence since 2007, according to a new World Bank Group Report.

This gap persists because of the complexity of logistics-related reforms and investment in developing countries, and despite the almost universal recognition that poor supply-chain efficiency is the main barrier to trade integration in the modern world."

Malawi contracted Canadian firm Sander Geophysics last year to conduct the survey.

The survey is being conducted as part of the Mining Governance and Growth Support Project, financed by a $25-million loan from the World Bank’s International Development Association and a €5-million grant from the European Union."

BETWEEN LILONGWE AND LUSAKA Malawi cancels Kenya Airways’ 5th freedom rights -

BETWEEN LILONGWE AND LUSAKA Malawi cancels Kenya Airways’ 5th freedom rights -: "Kenya Airways’ long-standing service to the Malawian traveling public, offering a 5th freedom connection between Malawi and Zambia, was clearly worth little for the bureaucrats in Lilongwe, when they abruptly canceled these 5th freedom rights to give upstart Malawian Airlines the monopoly on the route, with instant suggestions this was done at the behest of Ethiopian Airlines. Ethiopian, which went into partnership with the Malawian government to re-launch a national airline after mismanaged Air Malawi had collapsed, at the time prompting desperate calls for assistance to Kenya Airways to offer a daily service to Lusaka, is thought to be the main driver behind that decision in their fight for supremacy in the African skies, in this case clearly a dirty fight as it now allows to charge fares at will to the detriment of passengers"
