Canadian dual-listed mining firm, Mkango Resources Limited, has said its Rare Earth exploration project at Songwe Hill in Phalombe District is at an advanced stage, rating its preliminary findings as convincing for potential mining.

Earlier this month, the company commenced diamond core drilling at the hill to ascertain quality and volumes of Rare Earth.

The commencement of diamond core drilling of rare earth elements at Songwe Hill in Phalombe by Mkango Resources has attracted over 50 mining experts and investors.

The experts and investors have come from Canada, Britain, Germany, South Africa, Namibia and Malawi.

Diamond core drilling is used in the mining industry to probe the contents of known ore deposits and potential sites."

Dual-listed Canadian mining firm, Mkango Resources Limited, has commenced diamond drilling at the Songwe Hill in Phalombe District.

The drilling programme is a key component of the feasibility study for Songwe, which is being fully funded by Talaxis Limited, a subsidiary of Noble Group Ltd.

Talaxis would invest a further £7 million in funding completion of the feasibility study..

In a statement issued this week, the firm says the drilling programme is for a minimum of 5,000 metres and will be focused on infill, step-out and geotechnical drilling."

The prospecting licence is next to the company’s mining lease application
Globe Metals & Mining Limited (ASX:GBE) shares jumped on news that an exclusive prospecting licence for the Kanyika Niobium Project in Malawi has been renewed.

The company is a leading ASX gainer today with shares up 23% to 1.6 cents.

Malawi’s Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining has formally notified the company the EPL0421/15 has been renewed for a further two years from May 22, 2018."

Japan has asked Malawi to renew an exclusive prospective licence for Springstone Limited, a joint venture between Japan, Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEG) and Canada’s Gold Canyon Resources, which is exploring for rare earth elements at Chambe Basin in Mulanje Mountain.

This is contained in a communique detailing engagements of Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining, Aggrey Masi, in Cape Town, South Africa, where he led a Malawi delegation that attended the 2018 Investing in Africa Mining Indaba."

The drilling campaign, designed to rapidly advance the low-cost project towards a pre-feasibility study, covered 5,000 meters in total. An aircore rig used in the drilling has now been moved to test additional saprolite-hosted graphite targets within relative proximity to the project site."
