Uranium prices fell to long-term lows today with the front-month futures contract at the lowest since at least 2007.
The FX market underestimates the importance of the planned restart of nuclear energy stations in Japan for the yen. The country is currently importing massive quantities of coal and fuel to power the national grid. Prices have risen more than 20% and will continue to rise until the government deems its reactors fit for service."

Malawi's Tea export earnings fall - BNL Times: "Malawi’s foreign exchange earnings from tea exports slumped drastically in January 2014 due to low prices for the commodity on the international market, the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has reported.

In its recently released monthly economic review, the central bank says low prices for tea at the Limbe Auction affected revenue realised to over shadow production increase.

The bank says tea prices averaged US$1.62 per kilogramme, lower than US$1.96 per kilogramme fetched in a corresponding month last year."

Bank has revealed that Malawi is among the top eight poorest countries in the world in terms of GDP per capita.

Per capita GDP is a measure of the total output of a country that takes the GDP and divides it by the number of people in the country.

The ICP 2011 report released on Tuesday ranks Malawi alongside countries such as Mozambique, Central African Republic, Niger, Burundi, DRC, Comoros and Liberia as the eight poorest out of 199 global economies with a GDP per capita of less than $1,000.

Malawi’s GDP per capita was recorded at US$381 in 2013. Economic Planning Minister Ralph Jooma asked for more time to scrutinise the report before commenting"

The board of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a US$35.5-million loan to support implementation of a project to improve Malawi’s rural water and sanitation infrastructure.According to a statement by the bank, its African Development Fund would make a loan of US$23 million available to Malawi while the Nigerian Trust Fund and the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Facility Project would provide a loan of US$7.7 million and a grant of US$4.8 million, respectively."
