Malawi's Tea export earnings fall - BNL Times: "Malawi’s foreign exchange earnings from tea exports slumped drastically in January 2014 due to low prices for the commodity on the international market, the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has reported.
In its recently released monthly economic review, the central bank says low prices for tea at the Limbe Auction affected revenue realised to over shadow production increase.
The bank says tea prices averaged US$1.62 per kilogramme, lower than US$1.96 per kilogramme fetched in a corresponding month last year."
