New Hydro Power Plant in the Offing: "The Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining says it is conducting a feasibility study for construction of a new hydro power plant on the Shire River to enhance power supply to the national grid.
This comes at the back of challenges facing the existing hydro power plants on the Shire River owing to low water levels in Lake Malawi and silt in the river resulting from unprecedented environmental degradation."
