of $350.7 million (K256 billion) five-year energy compact in

Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a United States

government agency, provided the money for the energy

compact, which is a single sector programme, to support the

Malawi government to increase the capacity and stability of the

national electricity grid and the efficiency and sustainability of

hydropower generation.

Hamla Holdings To Conduct Oil Survey In Karonga: "The Malawi government in collaboration with Hamla Holdings Limited an oil exploration company is set to commence the geological survey on the offshore sedimentary rocks for oil exploration in Karonga district.

According to the team leader of the exploration company, Grain Malunga, the survey will start this month and the findings are expected to be revealed to the mass by December this year.

Malunga said the survey will be done in a professional way such that Malawians will not be denied any information pertaining to the matter."
