Foreign direct investment (FDI) helped Malawi create over 55, 000 jobs between 2009 and 2011 in various sectors of the economy, the Malawi Foreign Private Capital and Investors’ Survey report for 2011 shows.
However, the report has bemoaned a huge disparity between remunerations of local and expatriate employees in foreign investment companies."

The Mozambican government has ordered the building of 30 ships by Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie of Cherbourg in France in a deal worth €300 million, the local media reported on Tuesday.Quoting a Lebanese businessman Iskandar Safa, who owns the shipyard, reports said the order includes building 24 trawls, three 32-metre patrol ships and another three 42-metre ships."
