WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The International Monetary Fund said on Friday it had approved a three-year $79.4 million extended credit facility for Malawi to support the country's economic program. It said in a statement the amount represented 75 percent of the southern African nation's special drawing rights quota in the Fund. Record agricultural harvests in recent years led to Malawi's agricultural-based economy growing 9.8 percent in 2008 and an estimated 7.6 percent last year. |
